General Support / Re: analyse several systems with uninstaller portable
« Last post by Admin on December 04, 2013, 09:38:35 pm »
I guess you have two options:
a) You name stuff so you know whats what (e.g. "Fancy Program (computer a)" etc)
b) You rename the "log" folder manually depending on which computer you are using

I would probably prefer solution a myself, but solution b could be semi-automated by creating for instance a few batch-scripts (say a computerA.bat which renames "logsA" to "logs", launches ZU and waits for it to finish, then rename "logs" back to "logs"; a computerB.bat which is similar etc)

"ignoreList.dat" in the program directory. Despite the extension it is just a plain text file...

General Support / Copy of Ignore List

Just wanted to start off by saying you have a great product.

I was looking to see if it had been discussed but didn't see anything.  I did see someone requested a feature to export the ignore list but how about a work around.  I was trying to figure out where the ignore list was even stored but couldn't find it in a file or registry key.  Could you possibly just tell me where it is stored and I can make my own backup?  Thanks in advance.

General Support / analyse several systems with uninstaller portable
« Last post by Egust on November 06, 2013, 10:30:05 pm »
Hello,
what happens when I analyse installations on several computer systems.

For example I have 2 computers:
- one with system and programs on c:
- on where those are seperated to c: and e:

How can I keep the information about the analysed installations seperate?
How can I prevent mixing?

Bugs / Re: Uninstaller stucks at "Comparing Please Wait"
« Last post by Admin on September 27, 2013, 07:40:36 am »
Hi Edi,

Could you email me the files "HKLM_1.txt", "HKU_1.txt", "files_1.txt", "HKLM_2.txt", "HKU_2.txt" and "files_2.txt" so I can try to investigate? I realize the files are rather big, but zip'ing (or rar'ing or 7z'ing etc) should help a lot.

I don't think the behavior is related to a security application though, but I guess you never really know...
My guess it's a brainfart on my part in the comparison-code --- something that should be fixed in the upcoming version as the comparison code (amount other things) have been completely rewritten. I can make no promises as to when the upcoming version will be released, though.

Bugs / Try in Safe Mode please.

Hi Edi, it seems that the behaviour is related to a security application perhaps.

Please try to uninstall in Safe Mode to clarify that is not a Zsoft Uninstaller reported issue.

Also read this topic.

Good luck!  ;)

Bugs / Uninstaller stucks at "Comparing Please Wait"
« Last post by Edi August on September 25, 2013, 09:55:09 pm »
Hello,
I think this is not really a new Topic - but I didn't understand the Problem.

Actually the program already worked.
But now it again stucks at "Comparing Please Wait" with a high CPU  load.

I had cross linked data in the "All Users" account.
Anyhow it worked when I excluded the crosslinked path.
 Now it is hanging again.

Is there a Explanation?
(I thought at this stage it is only comparing lists that have been created in the steps before?)

Best regards
Eddi

Meanwhile, thanks to Marco for the workaround

General Support / Re: uninstall requiring reboot
« Last post by Admin on April 18, 2013, 07:43:19 am »
The strings are captured as the first thing...

So it goes like this:
1) You click "Uninstall"
2) ZU captures the strings and saves them to a file
3) ZU Launches the uninstall-process
4) The uninstall-process does its thing
5) When ZU "sense" that the uninstall-process has finished the small box in the bottom of the screen will appear --- but as the file was saved as the first thing you should be able to find it in the post uninstall manager any time after step 2...

General Support / uninstall requiring reboot
« Last post by Montgomery Minds on April 17, 2013, 09:20:10 pm »
I like ZSoft Uninstaller better than Revo Uninstaller because i get to see and edit the strings before the search begins.  I like the "Only return Whole-Word-Style matches" checkbox.  Then i know what i'm getting when i uncheck that.

So, I had a question so I asked ZSoft Guru in email:
Quote
I am set to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection.  It's a beast, from what i read.  I would like to use zsoft uninstaller to help.  But undoubtedly, SEP will require a reboot before it finishes uninstallation.  How will zsoft uninstaller handle this reboot?

In the same vein, it would be nice if zsoft uninstaller could:

1. save the list of strings it has decided to search for.

2. at an arbitrary time, read in a list of strings, or have the user type a list of strings, and do the same search it does after an uninstall.

I note that if it had those 2 features, even if zsoft uninstaller itself did not handle the reboot in the uninstaller for the program i am uninstalling, i could do it myself manually, by saving the list before the reboot, rebooting, then reading in the list after the reboot, and letting zsoft uninstaller search.

Thanks for your time!

And ZSoft Guru hath replied thusly:
Quote
I presume you're talking about the Post Uninstall scanning?
If that's the case, the list of search-items that is automatically filled out is already saved.
Go to "Functions -> Post uninstall manager" for a list of all the programs you have uninstalled, navigate to the program you want, double-click it, and the post-uninstall window will pop up.

I hope this helps :)

 - ZSoft Software

That DOES help.  A lot!

And then i thot, well i should have posted that in the forum so that everybody can benefit.

So i am posting this follow-up question here:

When does ZSoft Uninstaller capture the strings?  Before or after the built-in uninstaller runs?  Because the built-in uninstaller will ask to reboot.  So if the answer is "after" the reboot will have ended ZSoft Uninstaller's execution.
