General Support / analyse several systems with uninstaller portable

Hello,
what happens when I analyse installations on several computer systems.

For example I have 2 computers:
- one with system and programs on c:
- on where those are seperated to c: and e:

How can I keep the information about the analysed installations seperate?
How can I prevent mixing?

Hi Edi,

Could you email me the files "HKLM_1.txt", "HKU_1.txt", "files_1.txt", "HKLM_2.txt", "HKU_2.txt" and "files_2.txt" so I can try to investigate? I realize the files are rather big, but zip'ing (or rar'ing or 7z'ing etc) should help a lot.

I don't think the behavior is related to a security application though, but I guess you never really know...
My guess it's a brainfart on my part in the comparison-code --- something that should be fixed in the upcoming version as the comparison code (amount other things) have been completely rewritten. I can make no promises as to when the upcoming version will be released, though.

Hi Edi, it seems that the behaviour is related to a security application perhaps.

Please try to uninstall in Safe Mode to clarify that is not a Zsoft Uninstaller reported issue.

Hello,
I think this is not really a new Topic - but I didn't understand the Problem.

Actually the program already worked.
 But now it again stucks at "Comparing Please Wait" with a high CPU  load.

I had cross linked data in the "All Users" account.
 Anyhow it worked when I excluded the crosslinked path.
 Now it is hanging again.

Is there a Explanation?
 (I thought at this stage it is only comparing lists that have been created in the steps before?)

Same problem using portable version of Uninstaller on Windows 7... hope this could be fixed sooner or later...
Meanwhile, thanks to Marco for the workaround

The strings are captured as the first thing...

So it goes like this:
1) You click "Uninstall"
2) ZU captures the strings and saves them to a file
3) ZU Launches the uninstall-process
4) The uninstall-process does its thing
5) When ZU "sense" that the uninstall-process has finished the small box in the bottom of the screen will appear --- but as the file was saved as the first thing you should be able to find it in the post uninstall manager any time after step 2...

I like ZSoft Uninstaller better than Revo Uninstaller because i get to see and edit the strings before the search begins.  I like the "Only return Whole-Word-Style matches" checkbox.  Then i know what i'm getting when i uncheck that.

So, I had a question so I asked ZSoft Guru in email:

If that's the case, the list of search-items that is automatically filled out is already saved.
Go to "Functions -> Post uninstall manager" for a list of all the programs you have uninstalled, navigate to the program you want, double-click it, and the post-uninstall window will pop up.

And then i thot, well i should have posted that in the forum so that everybody can benefit.

So i am posting this follow-up question here:

When does ZSoft Uninstaller capture the strings?  Before or after the built-in uninstaller runs?  Because the built-in uninstaller will ask to reboot.  So if the answer is "after" the reboot will have ended ZSoft Uninstaller's execution.

I'm not the author but i think i can help out here (altho this is an old topic).

When you Analyze a program installation there is a "Before Installation" button and an "After Installation" button.  The only changes that get reverted are the changes made between the presses of those two buttons.  Nothing between the clicking of "After Installation" and the current time will get reverted.

Note that it just might happen that some Task Scheduler program may run or some running Service may happen to take action between pressing those two buttons, and if that action changed files or registry, those would be reverted too.
