Feature Requests / Secure File Deletion
« on: October 17, 2008, 07:59:25 pm »
I suggest some added features for future version:
-Secure permanent file deletion for individual files and when emptying the recycling bin
-cleaning features for cookies, temp files of all applications

General Support / a couple of questions
« on: August 18, 2008, 12:00:22 am »
I have some programs that I want to uninstall, but they were installed before I started using ZU to Analyse the installation.  So I am wondering if using ZU to uninstall them is any different than using Windows Add Remove Programs.   Does ZU clean out more?  If not, would I be better to use something like Revo Uninstaller for these programs?

Secondly, I do not understand the setting Uninstall Priority?  I couldn't find anything about it in the Help file.  What does it mean, what does it do, and how do I decide on the setting.

Thanks for the help and ZU.

Thanks for the help.

Do most people bother using ZU for updates?

I posted this as a feature request.

Is it this feature likely to be included in future version?  If so, when would you expect?

When a new update becomes available for an app that I have installed with ZU, I just do another "before and after" with ZU and label it as an update or upgrade of the original app.

When the time comes to uninstall the app, do I use the reverse order for uninstalling ie the update first and then the original app?   Or, does the order matter.  By doing this will I get all the files out of my computer?

Ashampoo Uninstaller has a feature as described below:

"Supplementary install records: Allows you to add add-ons, plug-ins and patches to the installation records of existing programs."

I presume this feature would also work for updates and upgrades to the app which was previously installed.
I don't know how it works, but seems like a good feature.

I know that this can be done with ZU by simply doing another "before and after" when doing a update, etc.
But I am wondering if it would be possible to revise the original log with the changes.

Thanks for the information. I now understand what the files is.

In regards to old backups of temp files, is it safe to assume after an reasonable amount of time with no problems that it is ok to delete the backups

I did a scan with Avast Antivirus and it identified a ZSoft file as being corrupted. It is one of the hidden files.
I am wondering if this is important and if there is anything I need to do with the file.

Below is the file which was identified:

01/22/2008 01:21
Scan of all local drives
File C:\Program Files\ZSoft\Uninstaller\backup\1200833679\30.zubak\update\langspecific\nor\updspapi.dll Error 42127 {CAB archive is corrupted.}

Thank you for the help.
