Shared dll counter
« on: August 05, 2007, 06:09:01 pm »
I install a application A that install a shared .dll: "ShareFile.dll". After that I install the application B, that use the some "ShareFile.dll" (and don't install it because is there yet).

If I uninstall A with the application'uninstaller comes out a warning like: "this file is needed for another application. Do you want to delete it?"

My question:

If I use the ZU analysed uninstaller to uninstall A - the "ShareFile.dll" is removed? The application B doesn't have anymore the needed file "ShareFile.dll"?

Thanks in advance.

If it's installed with program a and you uninstall it the file is gone. If program b needs it program b will probably not run after the uninstall of program a. You will then (probably) have to install program b again...

Thanks. I'm clarified.

I saw in another application a option to file system like this: "Deleted create files (shared dll's only if counter reach 0)"

What do you think about? A feature to be perform in the near future...?  I don't know how to fulfill that. But maybe you can do that...

Just a suggestion.

(Note to self: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs)
That's actually a very good idea. I'll look into how it might be added.
