General Support / Re: analyse several systems with uninstaller portable

I guess you have two options:
a) You name stuff so you know whats what (e.g. "Fancy Program (computer a)" etc)
b) You rename the "log" folder manually depending on which computer you are using

I would probably prefer solution a myself, but solution b could be semi-automated by creating for instance a few batch-scripts (say a computerA.bat which renames "logsA" to "logs", launches ZU and waits for it to finish, then rename "logs" back to "logs"; a computerB.bat which is similar etc)

"ignoreList.dat" in the program directory. Despite the extension it is just a plain text file...

Bugs / Re: Uninstaller stucks at "Comparing Please Wait"

Hi Edi,

Could you email me the files "HKLM_1.txt", "HKU_1.txt", "files_1.txt", "HKLM_2.txt", "HKU_2.txt" and "files_2.txt" so I can try to investigate? I realize the files are rather big, but zip'ing (or rar'ing or 7z'ing etc) should help a lot.

I don't think the behavior is related to a security application though, but I guess you never really know...
My guess it's a brainfart on my part in the comparison-code --- something that should be fixed in the upcoming version as the comparison code (amount other things) have been completely rewritten. I can make no promises as to when the upcoming version will be released, though.

General Support / Re: uninstall requiring reboot

The strings are captured as the first thing...

So it goes like this:
1) You click "Uninstall"
2) ZU captures the strings and saves them to a file
3) ZU Launches the uninstall-process
4) The uninstall-process does its thing
5) When ZU "sense" that the uninstall-process has finished the small box in the bottom of the screen will appear --- but as the file was saved as the first thing you should be able to find it in the post uninstall manager any time after step 2...

Well, I'm running Windows 7 myself and haven't run into any trouble...

General Support / Re: Is it safe to remove "Badware"

The badware searcher simply searches the registry for something matching anything on the list presented to you when opening the tool. As such, it is not easy to say if it's safe or not: You'll have to use your own judgment.
Backups are made though, should you choose to remote anything...

No, that will not have any effect.

Updates From Author / Re: Next Release..?

Only stuff on is really official --- I gave someone permission to package the software as a portable app, but what has changed in "rev 2" I don't know --- can only really be the packaging though....

I'm sorry, no. I'm currently very busy, and haven't had time to work on it.

You can select all entries with this "hidden feature":
Hold Ctrl and Shift, and type A L L

(You need to do it somewhat fast though)

General Support / Re: Spam from zsoft Forum

The "Updates from the author" board should now only allow me to make new posts, that should stop the notification-spamming.

I've now also added a mod to the forum disallowing users to post links --- considering most (if not all) of the spam being posted here is link-spam, maybe that'll help on the spam-level in general :)

General Support / Re: v2.5 Stuck at Comparing
« on: November 20, 2010, 12:13:14 AM »

If you go to the "logs" folder in the installation dir, there should be these six files:
Code: [Select]

If you pack those files (zip, 7z, rar or whatnot) and send them to my email (webmaster [at] zsoft [dot] dk) I will try to find the error...

Thank you in advance for you help =)

You can unpack the rar file with 7-zip, but you have to unpack it...
What probably happens is that when you double-click the exe file inside 7-zip, only that file is unpacked and run (resulting in missing files)...

To unpack using 7-zip: Open the rar-file, select all the files inside the rar-file and press the "Extract" button on the toolbar.
Choose where to unpack it, click OK and 7-zip should now unpack it.

Now open the folder where you unpacked it, and open the program from there...
